CAPE PIANO INVITES THE WORLD'S MOST OUTSTANDING YOUNG PIANISTS TO APPLY
The multi-round format is designed to showcase artistic breadth - from Baroque music to commissioned South African works, solo recitals to concerto performances with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
JURORS & SCREENING PANEL
Jurors will represent a diverse range of ages, experience, and global perspectives. The screening panel includes four members, two of whom will be South African.
The final jury will comprise seven internationally recognised concert pianists - including one South African. Jurors will also participate in the opening concert and conduct masterclasses.

Cape Piano is more than a competition. It’s also a movement with a mission to grow the appreciation and love of classical piano, and create reciprocal experiences for competitors through pop-up concerts, impromptu recitals, and unexpected performances.
FROM GRAND RECITAL HALLS TO STREET CORNERS, FROM A COMMUNITY CENTRE IN KHAYELITSHA TO A BEACHFRONT AT DUSK, CAPE TOWN ITSELF BECOMES THE STAGE

Our social impact programme extends inclusive public performance initiatives into 
a vehicle for a number of lasting classical music revival programs, especially in under-resourced communities. 


These include:

  • The Community Classical Music Academy: upgrading functional community music spaces and extending tuition opportunities in innovative ways
  • The Piano Graveyard Revival: collecting unused pianos from individuals and institutions reinvigorating them to inspire the next generation
  • The Student Masterclass Programme: taking local talent to the next level
  • The Classical Piano Festival: a regular new Cape Town event
